Features of the program
This program is designed and built around professional skills that translate directly to the marketing, e-commerce, and web design industries. During two semesters of intensive, project-based web design training, student will
- Design and launch six to eight fully functional web sites
- Learn the current versions of Flash, Dreamweaver, and other industry-standard web design software
- Gain basic coding skills in HTML, CSS, and Action script
- Make connections with web design professionals, including Sheridan faculty and alumni
Applicants must be competent in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator or equivalent software. Applicants will be expected to have these competencies prior to the start of the first course.
Eligibility Criteria
· Postsecondary diploma or degree in design, visual or fine arts
and/or
- Demonstrated competence through related work and/or educational experience
- IELTS score = 6.00 bands
Applicants must be competent in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator or equivalent software. Applicants will be expected to have these competencies prior to the start of the first course
Selection Criteria

and
- Response to a questionnaire
- Portfolio
There is a portfolio review fee.
The portfolio should consist of digital work submitted on CD, or URLs of digital
work, and/or 15-20 samples of non-digital work on 35mm slides. The questionnaire
assesses suitability for a professional career in Web design and outlines
business/work experience and personal/professional goals.
Postsecondary transcripts, indicating courses completed to date, must be
submitted with the applications.

Design program has a sterling reputation, so web design graduates are always in high demand. Employers with an ongoing need for web design talent include:

Initially, graduates usually work as web designers. Over time they often move into careers as art directors, creative directors, or studio principals.
